Anthony David Himel

Anthony "Pep" David Himel, 88, resident of Houma, Louisiana, was born on August 25, 1937 and passed away on January 22, 2026. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Smart Funeral Home in Bayou Blue.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 from 9-11am at the Samart Funeral Home Bayou Blue location located at 635 Bayou Blue Road, Houma, Louisisana followed by Military honors and service at 11am. Burial to follow at St. Louis Cemetery. 2226 Bayou Blue Road Houma, Louisiana 70364.
Anthony is survived by his wife Shirley Crochet Himel, son Keith Himel and wife Christine Prosperie Himel, son Tony Himel and wife Jodie Bourg Himel, Grand Children Heidi Himel Desselle and husband Ross Desselle, Heather Himel Benoit and husband Matt Benoit, Shalley Himel Adams and husband Ty Adams. Great Grandchildren Kolt Desselle, Daxton Desselle, Finnley Benoit, Hadley Benoit, Brynnley Benoit, Tucker Adams, and Tate Adams. His brother Raymond Himel and wife Anna Himel, brother Rickie Himel and his late wife Bonnie Himel. His sister Betty Himel Triche and husband Lloyd Triche, sister Charlene Himel Josey and husband Bobby Josey.
Anthony is proceeded in death by his dad Ivy Himel, his mom Ida Rogers Himel, his brother Herbert Himel, his brother Louis Himel, and his brother Ruby Himel.
Anthony was born and raised in Bayou Blue. He was a member of the United States Marines for 3 years. He was married to his wife Shirley for 62 years. Anthony worked for Halliburton as a Cementer, a Tool Man, and an Instrument Tech at the shop for a total of 31 years. He retired at the age of 54. Anthony and his wife loved fishing and going to his camp and his friends camp. Anthony has a special book he would log in all his fishing trips, where he caught his fish and how many. He also enjoyed hunting. He enjoyed helping his relatives with their cattle ranches. Anthony also enjoyed gardening for many years. He would keep a little for him and his wife but he enjoyed giving his crop to family and friends. Anthony also enjoyed trawling for shrimp with his wife and the excitement of picking up their first drag. He has three Granddaughters that he loved so much. He had seven Great Grandchildren that he adored. He will be greatly missed.
