Copeland - Juanita Mata Peralta, 55, died November 16, 2024 at UMC Hospital in Lubbock, Texas. She was born on July 15, 1969 in Waxahachie, Texas the daughter of Trinidad and Theresa (Montemayor) Mata. Sr.
Juanita moved as a child, with her family, to Copeland in the early 1970's. She attended school in Copeland and graduated with the Copeland High School class of 1988. Following graduation, Juanita worked at a variety of places including Mama Mo's Pizza in Sublette and cleaning homes for several families. She was also a para for USD 476-Copeland and USD 443-Dodge City. Juanita moved to Garden City and enjoyed being able to take care of her family. In her spare time, she did enjoy going to the casinos. Mostly, she wanted to spend time with her family and loved being with all of them.
She is survived by her two sons, Curtis Mata (Amanda) of Liberal and Luis Garcia (Laura) of Lubbock; her father, Trinidad Mata, Sr. of Copeland; siblings, Trinidad Mata, Jr. of Copeland, Freddy Mata (Brandy) of Sublette, Breanna Mata (Butch Bogner) of Copeland, Lori Giesick of Hennesy, Oklahoma, Jamie Berry of Garden City, and Jason Mata (Krista) of Dodge City; grandchildren, Alexis, Krista, Carrie, Casen, Tedrin, Dallas, and Oakley; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Juanita is preceded in death by her mother, Teddie Mata; brother-in-law, Brian Berry; and niece, Chloe Berry.
Graveside service will be held at Copeland Cemetery on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Doug Harris presiding. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Sublette on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 from noon to 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to the family in care of the funeral home. Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
