Judi Callender-Koeper, 86, of St. Joseph passed away Friday, Sept. 5, 2025, at her home after a long struggle with COPD and other illnesses. In keeping with Judi's wishes, she will be cremated and no services will be held.
Memorial donations in Judi's name may be made to Our Lady of the Lake Catholic High School. Arrangements are entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Chapel, St. Joseph. Those wishing to sign Judi's Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.
Judi was born in St. Joseph to John and Rose Callender, also of St. Joseph. After graduating high school, she moved to California in 1968, earned her bachelor's degree and met Ronald Koeper. In 1973, they were married in Redwood City. They lived there for 40 years, enjoying the beauty of California and all the friends they made. Judi and Ron retired and moved back to St. Joseph in 2006. She enjoyed working part-time at New Buffalo Four Winds Casino, especially when giving a big payout to her customers.
Judi leaves behind her husband of 52 years, Ronald Koepher; a stepson, Ronald Koeper II; her brother, John (Betty) Callender of Daniels, W.V.; her sister, Nancy (Walter) Sawyer of St. Joseph; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
