Judith Abitz Obituary

Judith Ann Abitz, 83, passed away with her family by her side after a short battle with cancer on Friday, February 9, 2024. She was born December 21, 1940, the daughter of Joseph and Margaret (Youngwirth) Miller. On June 14, 1958, Judy married Ronald E. Abitz in Oshkosh, and they celebrated over 60 remarkable years together until Ron's passing in 2018. She was employed at Mercy Medical Center, in the food service department, for 47 years.

In her free time, Judy enjoyed bowling, golfing, and trying her luck at different casinos around the country. She loved traveling and spending time with family especially the winters in Laughlin with Ron, spending time with her sisters, and family reunions at Marl Lake that brought everyone together.

Judy will be remembered for creating a home where people wanted to gather. Her door was always open to visitors, and she was a great listener and confidant. She enjoyed having an old fashioned and was always making new friends with her loving spirit. She was an amazing mother and had great compassion for her family and friends. We were so lucky.

Judy is survived by her children: Randy (Sue), Renee (Dave) Neitzke, Stacey Haidlinger, and Rhonda (John) Hansen; grandchildren: Lucas (Chrissy), Matthew (Jamie), and Joshua (Kristi) Neitzke, Michael (Molly) and Amy (Tripp) Haidlinger, Nicholas (Taren) and Joseph (Jess) Hansen, Emily (Thomas) Poeschl, and Allison (Alan) Hansen; great-grandchildren: Jordan, Emerson, Marissa, Austin, Jackson, Landon, Abigail, Lachlan, Aspen, Ivan, Miles, Reese, Paige; brother: Joe (Judy) Miller; sisters: Mary (Jerry) Allen, Bonnie Viertel, Vicky (Don) Haedt, Peggy (Russ) Rilling, Sandy Craig, and sister-in-law: Mary Abitz. Judy was preceded in death by her loving husband Ron, her parents, son-in-law Jeff Haidlinger, brothers-in-law: John Viertel, Dennis Craig, and Ray Abitz; sister-in-law Mary-Jane (Bob) McPeake.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 17, 2024, at St. Vincent Church (St. Jude the Apostle Parish), 1225 Oregon Street, Oshkosh, WI. A mass of Christian burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park in Oshkosh.

The family would like to thank the exceptional care given to Judy by Compassus especially Crystal and Chris.

Dear Abitz Family, Your Mom Judy was always welcoming and kind serving food at MMC. I worked on the old 3N to 3S then OB. In 2000, I was part of the move to the new hospital in OB. Thanks Judy for always greeting with a smile. My sympathy, Lynn Klemmer RN

I knew Judy from working at the hospital. She worked with my mom Helen Westover. So sorry for your loss. She and Ron were very nice people. Always said Hi and talked when we saw them.
