Judith Backlund Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cremation & Funeral Services of Tidewater on Feb. 17, 2026.
Norfolk - Judith Mae (Prescott) Backlund, born on June 12, 1946, in Minnesota, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2026, in Norfolk, Virginia, at the age of 79 years.

Judith was the beloved daughter of the late Arthur Sr. and Hoyle (Bradford) Prescott. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Arthur Prescott Jr., and her sister, Diane Bates. She started out in Minnesota, then spent many years in Clarksville, TN before moving to Norfolk, VA.

She graduated from Sandstone High School in Sandstone, Minnesota in 1964.

A dedicated and hardworking individual, Judith spent her career as an Office Manager, where her administrative prowess and attention to detail were greatly valued. After retiring, she embraced her passions for playing Bingo and traveling, pursuits that brought her great joy and lasting friendships.

Judith leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory: her devoted daughter, Jill Backlund; her two sons, Timothy Backlund (Dawn) and Jeff Backlund (Lynn); five precious grandchildren, Trista (Kyle), Hunter (Kenzi), Antonio, Lukas, and Skyler (Petra), and two great grandchildren, Adilai and Brecken. She is also survived by her sister, Carol Daudt, her brother, David Prescott, and numerous other family members and friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.

Quoted from her granddaughter, Trista Backlund…

"Our family lost a big sparkle on February 14, 2026.

The one who always called to check on us all. The one who greeted you with humor, a laugh, and an "I love you" every single time.

It's hard to imagine this life without her. But I know she is overjoyed to be reunited with her sister, brother, cousin and so many others.

Thank you for a lifetime of love and laughter.

Love you, G-MA Judith Backlund

We will celebrate her sparkle in March."

Although no services are planned in Virginia at this time, Judith's cremains will be taken to Minnesota at a later date, honoring her roots and connection to her birthplace.
