Judith Kay Barbee, age 83, of New Philadelphia, peacefully joined her beloved husband in their heavenly home on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, following a brief illness while in the care of Park Village Southside.

Born on August 11, 1940, in Union Hospital at Dover, Judy was a daughter of the late Raymond J. and Ardath J. (Henninger) Hobart.

Judy was a 1958 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and on November 25, 1961, in Otterbein United Methodist Church, she married Robert M. Barbee. The couple shared in 59 years of marriage prior to Bob’s passing on December 9, 2020.

For many years, Judy served as an X-Ray Technician and as she began her family, she became a homemaker and took on the full-time job of wife and mother. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and sewing. She also enjoyed many family vacations through the years. Her Faith was nurtured at the Dover Foursquare Gospel Church (The Summit) and NewPointe Community Church.

Judy is survived by two beloved children Lorinda and Pete Popa of East Canton and Phillip and Terry Barbee of Mineral City; grandchildren, Joshua Popa, Chad Franklin, and Erika Hutchison and her fiancé, Ryan Moore; several great-grandchildren; a brother, Tom (Lois) Hobart; a special niece, Becky Harding, who was always there to lend a helping hand, as well as her other nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Judy was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Hobart, and a grandson, Drew Hutchison.

In keeping with Judy’s wishes cremation will take place through the care of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A graveside service will be led by Pastor David Wing on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 10:00 AM in Dover Burial Park.
