Judith Kay "Judy" Basler

RICHMOND, Ind. – Judith (Judy) Kay Basler, age 74, of Richmond, Indiana, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Reid Health, holding the hand of her husband of 52 years, Daniel Ray Basler.
Born August 15, 1949, in Richmond, Indiana, to Walter and Marie Roark, Judy lived in the community all of her life. She was a high school graduate and worked as a seamstress in the casket industry. Judy brought laughter and love to all who knew her. Her amazing sense of humor gave her strength through all her trials. Before her illness, Judy loved being outdoors. She enjoyed fishing, hiking, and working in her yard. Judy loved to read and spent many days on her patio reading a good book. In later years she loved time spent at the casino playing penny slots and usually had great luck. Judy will be forever missed by those who loved her.
Survivors include her husband, Daniel Ray Basler; 1 brother; and 5 sisters. Judy was the loving mother of Angela (Joe) Burns, Brian (Melisa) Helton, Jimmy (Sherry) Basler, Jessica (Frank) Gallegos, and special friend, Rodney Ross. She was the proud grandmother of Kayla and Shawn Purcell, Nate Burns, Evan, Braden, Chaise Helton, Sydney Basler, Luke Basler, Ashley Young, Whitney Lamb, and Stacy Gallegos. Judy was the great grandmother to Jaden, Bentley, Carson, Harper, and Maverick.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marie and Walter M. Roark; 1 brother; and 2 sisters.
Graveside service for Judith "Judy" K. Basler will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 24, 2024, at Earlham Cemetery.
