Judith Bernstein Obituary

June 13, 1944 - June 15, 2025 In Loving Memory of Judith Ann Bernstein (née Raske)
Adored and cherished, Judith Ann Bernstein passed away surrounded by love on June 15, 2025, just two days after celebrating her 81st birthday. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and boundless energy. Judith is survived by her devoted children, Jeffrey (Raha) and Robin (Maggie); her treasured grandsons, Brandon (Kelsey) and Spencer; her beloved sister, Joan Zerg (Henry); and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, bonus children, and dear friends who became family.
A graduate of Los Angeles High School, Judy became a young mother, bringing her vibrant spirit, curiosity, and fierce devotion to parenting. She later attended West LA College, where she nurtured her love for writing-earning an award for her vivid account of the ringside atmosphere at the historic Cassius Clay vs. Joe Frazier fight in Las Vegas. Throughout her life, Judy remained a lifelong learner and creative soul.
She poured her heart into community involvement-supporting her children's schools, organizing PTA events, and volunteering for causes close to her heart. Whether crafting ceramics, painting, running a business, or placing seniors into housing at the close of her career, Judy always found ways to give back. Her service extended to the arts, elder care, cancer support groups, and countless other community initiatives.
Judy loved life, and she lived it with unmatched joy and purpose. Known affectionately as the original "Energizer Bunny," she never met a stranger. Her empathy and warmth embraced everyone around her. She was confident, independent, funny, and endlessly optimistic-always seeing the best in people and the beauty in the everyday.
A world traveler and avid theatergoer, she delighted in music, dance, and exploring global cuisine. Her home was a haven-welcoming family, friends, and anyone in need of a warm meal or a safe place to rest. "I run a flop house," she used to joke, with pride and an open heart.
She was always impeccably dressed, gracefully poised, and ready to entertain with a smile, a story, and something delicious on the stove. She will be remembered not only for her vibrant presence but for her unwavering love, generosity, and the countless lives she touched.
Judith Ann Bernstein's light will continue to shine in the memories of those who knew her-and in the kindness and joy they carry forward in her honor.
