Judith Jean Byers, 85, of Springfield, MO passed away Friday, March 13, 2026, at Cedarhurst Senior Living in Blue Springs, MO. She was born on Monday, October 7, 1940 in Springfield, MO, daughter of Evelyn Moss-Ruyle and William Lloyd Ruyle.
Judy was united in marriage to Jerry Douglas Byers, upon his discharge from the Army in 1961 and together they shared 63 years until his passing in 2024. She graduated from Parkview High School in Springfield. Judy was employed by Chiles Tractor and later, an administrative assistant at Lincoln Financial Group for many years. She enjoyed watching her grandkids activities and playing sports. Also, Judy was a member of Second Baptist Church for more than 60 years. She remained very active with her Sunday School class, as they participated in exercise class, going out for lunch, bible study and several afternoons of playing cards. Judy was a member of the 57 Chevy Car Club and traveled around the country with Jerry and other members of the club.
She was proceeded in death by her parents and her husband.
Judy is survived by her two sons Steve (Betsy) of Jefferson City and Greg of Kansas City, five grandchildren Hayley Solano (Mitchell), Josh Byers, Lindsey Byers, Alexandra Gillette (Alan) and Marcus Milner (Chapin), 4 great-grandchildren Graham, Hayes and Beau Solano and Brooks Milner, one nephew Robert Hill (Vicky), one niece Sharon Curtis (Paul) and several great nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 11- 12 pm on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at the Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at White Chapel, 5234 W. State Hwy EE, Springfield, MO 65802 with funeral services to follow at 12 pm. Memorial donations may be made in her name to the Alzheimer's Association or the 2nd Baptist Church.
