Judy's outgoing personality led her to spend time as the Welcome Wagon, helping new members in the community, worked at a credit bureau, admitting in the ER at St Mary's hospital and later as a real estate agent. With Pete being on the road most weeks, her favorite role was mom and chauffeur. Judy was also active in Catholic Daughters, Boy Scouts and Campfire Girl leader for many years. Pete and Judy served with the Peace Corps in Honduras 1988-1989. After retiring in 1988, Judy and Pete spent their winter in Las Vegas working security at conventions. They eventually sold the farm just north of DL and bought a lake home on Devils Lake, outside of Perham where they loved entertaining family and friends. Eventually, Mesa, Arizona became their winter home until Pete's passing in 2014. Judy moved back to DL for 7 years with her final residence being The Sanctuary at West St. Paul.
