Judith Louise “Rusty” Cox, age 90, of Asheville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, November 8, 2025.
Born in Los Angeles, California, Rusty was the daughter of the late Benton Gordon Goodwin and Mabel Elizabeth Dunaway Goodwin. She made Asheville her home for many years and proudly served with the Asheville Police Department beginning in 1996.
Rusty is remembered by her daughters, Catherine Sue McKinney (Jimmy), Connie Robinson, Susian Loretta Rice (Surratt), and Donna Copeland (George); her grandson, Vince Robinson; and her great-grandchildren, Haley Thomas and Alex Robinson. She is also survived by her niece, Elizabeth Goodwin.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Lawrence Benton “Larry” Goodwin.
No services are planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Asheville Humane Society in Rusty’s memory.
