Judith Cutlip Obituary
Published by Legacy on Jul. 8, 2025.
Judith Ann (Judy) Cutlip, age 81, a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully, surrounded by love on June 29th, 2025, at CAMC Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born May 12th, 1944 at home on Droop Mountain to the late Lanty and Genevieve Benita Vaughan McCoy. She was deeply rooted in the beautiful community of Hillsboro, WV, where she spent her entire life with her dearest husband of 59 years, Roland Gene Cutlip, who survives her. She was the youngest of seven siblings, who she loved dearly.
Judy was a strong woman of faith and was an active member and treasurer of Marvin Chapel United Methodist Church. She graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1962 and soon began working at Denmar State Hospital in the payroll office until its doors closed in 1990. She supported and helped clients with living and social skills at Seneca Mental Health until her retirement in 2017. She loved her church and work families, having made many enduring friendships. She had a special bond with her circle of close friends and cherished each one of them. Judy was a traveler and made many memories on adventures with her family across the state and country, but home is where she loved to be most. She enjoyed helping raise a beautiful and productive garden each year with Roland, canning and preserving and sharing what they raised. Judy was a wonderful cook and loved nothing more than gathering her friends and family around the dinner table to share one of her delicious meals. She is known and will be remembered for her kindness, giving, strength, humor, and the love for her friends and family. Judy had a huge heart for all animals, especially their loyal companion Raven, their cats, and beloved goats.
Her greatest legacy was her exceptional love and devotion as a mother to her daughter, Dana – a bond that transcends all else, forever.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brothers Thomas McCoy, William McCoy, Harry McCoy and Leo "Red" McCoy; as well as her sister Betty McCoy Weatherholt Black.
Judy is survived by her husband, Roland G. Cutlip; daughter Dana Andrea Cutlip; sister Garnett McCoy Sharp and her husband Tom; along with many special nieces and nephews, and friends.
