Judy (Vaughn) Gibbons, age 86, passed away peacefully at home on March 6, 2026, in Gladewater, Texas. She was born on January 19, 1940, in Gladewater, Texas to her late parents Wilburn and Nina (Pope) Vaughn.
In addition to her parents, Judy is preceded in death by her husband, Merritt Gibbons; her son-in-law Robert "Beaugh" Weltz; and her siblings Richard Vaughn, Sandy Vaughn Marek, and Brenda Vaughn Martin.
Judy is survived by her daughter Cathy (Gibbons) Weltz; her son Jeff Gibbons and his wife Tammy; 4 grandchildren Justin (Christina) Gibbons, Jordan (Sarah) Gibbons, Lori Weltz, and Joey (Abagail) Gibbons; 9 great-grandchildren Tyler, Jackson, Riley, Cooper, Camryn, Severin, Sahara, Veda, and Valen; and her brother Mike Vaughn.
Judy was known to all as a loving and faithful follower of Christ who dedicated many years of service to her church and community. She demonstrated her love for others, especially children, by spending a part of her career being a teacher's aide at Gay Avenue Elementary School, teaching Sunday school at church, and taking as much time as possible to be with her grandchildren. After working in the school system, she went on to be a title clerk, bookkeeper, and office manager at the Toyota and Cadillac dealerships in Longview, Texas and eventually retired at age 73. She was a loyal and beloved friend of many and devoted wife, mother, and "Nana". Judy will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all who knew her.
Graveside services will be held at Gladewater Memorial Park Cemetery on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 11 am.
