Judith Granitzki Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home - Chatham on Mar. 7, 2026.
Judith Allan Granitzki "Judy" passed away at age 64 on March 3, 2026, at Tisch Hospital in New York City, after a short illness.

Judy was born on October 2, 1961, in Garfield Heights, Ohio. She was the younger of the twin girls born that day to Jim and Bea Allan.

Judy began her schooling in Crestwood, Missouri. When her family moved to New Jersey, Judy started at the school in Chatham, New Jersey, going straight through from second grade to twelfth grade. Judy graduated from Chatham Borough High School, Chatham New Jersey in 1980.

She attended the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York City, where she pursued her love of photography. Judy also attended Essex County College, Newark, New Jersey, earning an AAS Degree in Human and Social Service. She then attended Rutgers University, Newark, New Jersey, earning a BA Degree in psychology with emphasis on early child development. By 1995 Judy had also passed both the FINRA Series 7 exam and the FINRA Series 63 exam.

Judy had an eclectic career path which included stints as a professional waiter, a counselor, an investment associate, a photographer, and a real estate agent. Her true love, however, was her work in childcare. She ran a daycare business out of her home for many years. She also worked as a nanny in the homes of her clients.

Judy was the beloved wife of David Richard Granitzki, whom she married in 1995. She is also survived by her cherished daughters Alison Johnstone Grim and Kelsie Allan Granitzki and their families: Alison's husband Mike Grim and their son Dexter Allan Grim, and Kelsie's fiancée Alex Tarandek.

Judy leaves behind her siblings: Carol Allan and Doug Allan, both of whom live in Chatham, N.J., and her twin sister Joyce Allan Foster and her husband Mike Foster of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; as well as her nephew David Allan and his son Liam Allan McManus of Chatham, N.J., Dana Allan Morrow, her husband Dan Morrow, and their children Jack, Ben, and Addison of West Sayville, N.Y., and Diana Allan and her partner Lionel Martin of Brooklyn, N.Y.

Judy also leaves behind her husband's siblings: Bonnie Granitzki Gold and her late husband, Stewart Gold of Hampstead, N.C., and their daughters Joanne Gold of Bethlehem, PA and Jennifer Gold and her husband Jake Godfrey of Surf City, N.C.; Jim Granitzki and his wife Kathy Granitzki of Succasunna, N.J. and their children: Richard Granitzki and his son and daughter; Jim Granitzki and his wife Kristen Granitzki and their expected child, and Patrick Granitzki and his wife Lanea Granitzki, and their two sons.

Judy is also remembered by her many friends, many of whom she has known since second grade.

A memorial service will be held at 3 PM on Saturday March 14, at the William A. Bradley and Son Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Chatham, with visiting hours from 1 PM to 3 PM prior to the service.

Yesterday

I had more amazing times with Judy than I can ever account for. What a generous, authentic, and loving person. Wherever we were Judy, you were having fun! And that laugh -- so completely genuine! Thank you for letting me into your life and the life of your family. I'm so sorry Alison, Kelsie, and Dave. I know how difficult this must be for you. You're all in my thoughts! Take good care of each other -- Todd Tietchen
