Andrew Brummer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home - Chatham on Feb. 24, 2026.
The Brummer family is mourning the death of our beloved husband, father, son, and brother. Andrew Clark Brummer " Andy ", died at home, surrounded by his family, on February 10th, 2026, after an eighteen month, heroic battle against pancreatic cancer.

Andy, born July 8th, 1963 in Manhasset, NY, was the third child of Sara C. and S. Gordon Brummer of Medford Leas, NJ. He received a B.A. in political science from Colgate University in 1985, where he ran track/field and served as president of his fraternity, Theta Chi. He spent a semester studying in Norway. After receiving an M.B.A. from NYU, he joined Lehman Bros., and spent 35 years in high-yield bond sales at several financial firms after Lehman, including Guggenheim securities, Societe Generale, and BNP Paribas. Andy worked for Imperial Capital from 2020 - 2026.

He possessed a rare gift in mentoring, advising and befriending those who worked for him. Andy could be found, late on a Friday afternoon, offering constructive criticism to young salesmen/traders, who adored him.

Andy married Anne W. Brummer " Annie " in July, 1987, and together they raised three amazing children, Andrew W. Brummer( Denver, CO ), Margaret K. Brummer ( Santa Monica, CA ) and John " Jack" M. Brummer ( Jersey City, NJ.). Although he found his "day job" interesting and challenging, his focus in life was always Annie, Andrew, Maggie and Jack.

On parenting : " Try and keep them on the fairway. If they're headed for a bunker or the rough, step in. "

On marriage : " Marry your best friend." " Always remember you're a team."

On friendship: " Friendship is based on shared experience ".

On social media : " Try to raise others up.", " Strong opinions, loosely held ", " Listen to both sides of an issue ". " Never text to convey an important message , pick up the phone and have a conversation to avoid misunderstandings".

An avid golfer, Andy treasured his time on the course with dear friends. He loved competing in tournaments at CanoeBrook Country Club and traveling to Ireland and Scotland. Andy held a particularly strong attachment to Colgate, where he and Annie met and fell in love. He delighted in hosting massive tailgates with dear friends - all were welcomed- and was famous for his grilled " lambsicles ", which fed many of young Andrews' ( Class of '16 ) roommates. Andy loved fly fishing and was not at all concerned that days spent in beautiful locations yielded tiny trout, rather than trophy fish. He will be sorely missed on Hewett Island, Maine and Beaver Lake, NJ, where he spent decades of downtime with his family.

Andy is survived by his brother, Dr. David G. Brummer of Orchard Park, NY , and two sisters, Sally B. Snyder of Summit, NJ and Amy E. Brummer of Trenton, NJ, as well as his beloved parents " Mima and Granddad ". His numerous cousins and their children will remember Andy's quick wit, big heart and kindness to all.

All those whose lives were touched by this amazing man are welcome to his Memorial Service, at the Presbyterian Church of Chatham Township, on Saturday May 2nd at 11 AM.
