Anne Bangs Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home - Chatham on Feb. 2, 2026.
Anne Bangs, 65, of Chatham, NJ, passed away on January 22nd, 2026. Anne was born on May 11, 1960, in Carlisle, England to James Burgess and Dorothy Burgess. Her parents moved to Whitehaven, England in the Lake District when she was three years old. Anne attended Whitehaven Grammar School and went on to obtain a degree in Languages from Goldsmith's College at the University of London.

Anne loved living in London, where she met her husband Greg Bangs shortly after he arrived from the US to work at American International Group's UK headquarters. They were married in 1986.

Anne had a passion for travel, which she fully explored when she and Greg relocated to Paris, New York, and Hong Kong over the years. She was always game for new experiences, and she looked at each move as an opportunity to have adventures and make new friends.

Along the way, Anne and Greg welcomed two children, Stephen and Kirsten, into their lives. Anne was a devoted, loving mother whose greatest joy in life was making fun family memories together. She also doted on the family's beloved labradoodle, Tara.

She was loyal and supportive to the many friends she made in Chatham and around the world, giving generously of herself and her time without asking for anything in return. Her infectious personality, quick wit, and sunny smile lit up any room she walked into, anywhere in the world. To know Anne was truly to love her.

She also gave selflessly to the community, acting as a deacon at the Presbyterian Church of Chatham Township, organizing dinners for the homeless and for the Historical Society fund raisers, and was actively involved in her children's schools.

Anne was an astute businesswoman, as well. She and a friend, Doreen Hall, set up a highly successful senior relocation company, TLC Senior Relocation Services. She greatly enjoyed the fulfillment and challenge of helping elderly clients transition to smaller homes or assisted living complexes.

Anne is survived by her husband Greg Bangs, son Stephen Bangs and daughter-in-law Catherine Bangs, daughter Kirsten Bangs, and brother David Burgess, as well as nieces and nephews in the US and UK.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 7 at 10 AM at the Presbyterian Church of Chatham Township, followed by a reception in the church hall. Those who knew her are invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Anne's name to either the Breast Cancer Research Foundation or the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc.
