WALKERTON – Judith A. Hillman of Walkerton passed away peacefully on Friday, April 4, 2025, in Miller's Merry Manor, Walkerton following an illness. She was born on October 20, 1942, in South Bend to the late Robert and Lois (Geddes) Solloway and was 82 years-old at the time of her death.
Judy lived in the area since returning from California 27 years ago and was a retired Dietician at the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility. She was also known by many after being a hairdresser around Walkerton for many years. On March 5, 1960, in South Bend she married Robert Hillman who preceded her death in 2008.
She was a member of the Eastern Star chapters in both Walkerton and Riverside, California and she progressed through their ranks to achieve the role of Worthy Matron. Judy was a very crafty person who particularly enjoyed sewing wedding dresses and garments for others. Her passion for crafts was not limited to sewing as she also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and all other crafts. Most of all she loved her family with all of her heart, especially her grandchildren who were her life.
Judy is survived by four children Terri (Phillip) Buckmaster, Debi (Kurt) Hagglund, and Jim (Donna) Hillman all of Walkerton and Barbara (David) Coffin of Hamlet; seven grandchildren Dawn Buckmaster, Kristy Hagglund, Brian Vermilyer, Blaine Vermilyer, Shayne Volle, Andrew Hillman, and Tera Goldt; fifteen great grandchildren; one great-greatgrandchild; her twin sister Janice Milliken; and one brother Richard (Sharon) Solloway. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, one granddaughter Kelly Vermilyer, and two brothers Robert Solloway and Larry Solloway.
There will be a Visitation time with family and friends from 1:00 to 3:00 EDT Sunday, April 13, 2025, at the Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel, with a Memorial Service to be held at 3:00 EDT also on Sunday, April 13 at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Traditions Hospice.
