Judith Larkin Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Neely Funeral Home on Oct. 29, 2025.
Judith "Judy" Larkin Obituary Judith "Judy" Claire (Mahoney) Larkin, 86 yrs, from Pittsburgh, PA, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2025 holding her husband Bill's hand and surrounded by family.
Born on April 11, 1939, Judy was known for her easy, infectious laugh. Her husband Bill was often the biggest source of her amusement. Judy was renowned for her quirky use of language and Bill often called her Miss Mallaprop because she had a knack for mixing up words and would often ask out-of-context questions when told a story. Married for 62 years, their partnership is a testament to unwavering love and commitment to each other and their family. Bill credits Judy for filling his life with faith, strength and a lot of laughter.
Judy often said she was a mermaid in a former life; her love of water and the beach was legendary. She was a member of the Kiwanis Park pool for years, where she swam laps daily and met some of her closest friends. She and Bill vacationed every summer at the beach, starting with their own children and continuing the tradition as the family grew, eventually needing a beach house for 30-plus people. She loved sitting by the ocean talking with her grandchildren, listening to the waves with her toes in the water. What she did not love was having her romance novels stolen out of her beach bag and narrated aloud by said grandchildren.
Judy's love for the color red was as vivid as her personality. It adorned her wardrobe, brightened her home and reflected her spirited approach to life. Her favorite gift was the red convertible that Bill gave her on her favorite holiday, Christmas. Christmas Eve was celebrated at the Larkin house with family and friends. Judy had endless bins of decorations that her children and grandchildren would pull out every year, and each decoration came with a specific note of placement and positioning. To her dismay, sometimes one of the Santa's from her prized Santa collection would disappear on Christmas Eve, only to reappear in the family White Elephant gift exchange on Christmas Day.
A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Judy said her family was her greatest accomplishment and blessing. She is survived by her husband Bill Larkin, and their children: Bill Larkin Jr. (Carol), Amy Larkin Palmer (Jim), Matt Larkin (Samantha), Megan Larkin Waskiewicz (Joe), and Molly Larkin Rottmann (Hans), her twenty-two grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and her sister Barbara Bozzo (the late Frank Bozzo), with whom she shares a birthday.
She is preceded in death by her parents Clair and Dorothy Mahoney, her brothers Terry Mahoney (survived by Liz Mahoney) and Peter Mahoney (the late Mae, survived by Carol Reimer) and her sister Claire Leheny (the late Tom).
Visitation will be on Friday, June 13th, 2PM to 8PM at Neely Funeral Home, 2208 Mount Royal Blvd., Glenshaw PA, 15116. The mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, June 14th, 10AM at St. Bonaventure Church in Glenshaw. Please meet at the church.
