Judith Pearson Obituary
Judith Ann (Judy) Frank Pearson, 88, died peacefully on February 22, 2024, at her winter home in Naples, FL, surrounded by her four children. Judy was born on January 26, 1936, in Gowanda, NY, to Dr. Norris Henry and Donna Marie (Gilliland) Frank and grew up in Gowanda and Collins Center, NY, where she graduated from high school in 1954. A writer and poet since childhood, Judy graduated from the University of Rochester in 1958 with a degree in English literature. She married her husband of sixty-one years, Clarence Arthur (Art) Pearson, in 1960, the same year he graduated from medical school, and the couple eventually settled in Oneida, NY, where Art began his medical practice and where they raised their family. Judy's beloved summers on the St. Lawrence River began at this time, a tradition she returned to again and again for the rest of her life. In 1986, after she and Art retired to Naples, the couple divided their time between Florida and Cape Vincent, NY.
Judy is survived by daughter Kim Bigelow (Martin) of Middleville, NY, and sons Arthur "Larry" Pearson (Dale) of Richmondville, NY, Douglas Pearson (Mary) of Macon, GA, and Norris Pearson (Marguerite) of Troy, NY. She is also survived by grandchildren Nathan (Jenna) Bigelow, Heidi (Derek) Erbert, Nicholas Pearson, Caroline Pearson, Elizabeth Pearson, and Garrett Pearson and by great-grandsons Henry, Oliver, and William Bigelow. She was predeceased by her husband, Clarence Arthur Pearson.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Judy's memory to support nonprofit organizations through the C. Arthur Pearson and Judith Frank Pearson Fund, care of the Northern New York Community Foundation, 131 Washington Street in Watertown, NY 13601
Arrangements have been entrusted to Cleveland Funeral Home of Cape Vincent, NY. Online condolences can be made at www.clevelandfhinc.com.
