Judith Spayd

1946 - 2025

ELIDA - Judith (Judy) Ann Spayd, 78, was taken by the hand of Jesus on January 10, 2025, surrounded by her loving family, at St. Rita's Medical Center.

She was born in Lima, Ohio, on November 17, 1946, to Miller and Lilace (Glancy) Gossard, who preceded her in death.

She was a 1965 graduate of Perry High School, and she married the love of her life, Phil Spayd, on August 7, 2004.

She is survived by her daughter, Wendy VanBuskirk (Rod Williams); her stepdaughters, Kim (Bob) High, Cindy (Ron) Brenneman, and Tammy (Curt) Mooney; her grandchildren, Devin, Shyanna, Tanise, Nikayta, and Cadence and step-grandchildren, Ben, Ryan, Matthew, Josh, Rebekah, and Jacob; great grandchildren, Brayton and Elliot and step great grandchildren, Piper, Isaac, Anna and Adalyn; and sister, Diana Hover (Larry, deceased)

She was preceded in death by her son, Mark Neu; granddaughter, Kaylynn VanBuskirk; and step-granddaughter, Alayna Geiler.

Judy was employed at the Perry School cafeteria for 33 years and loved to go shopping or sit under her heated blanket, reading books or watching Hallmark movies. She was a former member of South Side Christian Church and later attended Lima Baptist Temple when she and Phil were married.

She is very loved and deeply missed by her husband, her family, and her friends, especially Bob & Gloria Davis, Donna Bowers, Patti Croy and Sandy Dunlap.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 15 at 11:00am at Chiles-Laman Funeral Home, Shawnee Chapel. Pastor Gary Hohman will be officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery following the service, where she will be buried next to her granddaughter, Kaylynn. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 14 2:00pm-6:00pm and one hour before the service.
