Judith Spencer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cremations of the Ozarks - Hollister on Aug. 2, 2024.
Judith Lea (Hyde) Spencer made her final transition Friday, July 5, 2024, peacefully at home with family by her side.
Judy was born on August 18, 1939, and grew up in Warren, Ohio. She graduated Salutatorian of her class from Champion High School in 1956. In her free time, she loved to sing with her sister, Margaret and their childhood friend, Martha; the three of them harmonized beautifully. Judy also enjoyed roller-skating, which is how she met her [former] husband David G. Spencer - marriage and babies quickly followed, and life was a whirlwind of new towns and jobs. Judy spent her life traveling all over the United States and abroad with family and friends - she lived in Scotland for a stretch, as well as California, Connecticut, Illinois, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina.
Judy's career began as a paralegal in California; however, this soon changed into entrepreneurial adventures when she owned and operated the Judy Spencer Nightlight Company and later a toner cartridge recycling company. As life would have it, her final career choice was again serving as a paralegal for the Illinois States Attorney. Judy was a lifetime volunteer at several social clubs: The Niedersachsen Club in Chicago, Illinois, the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Elgin, Illinois, and several others throughout her retirement years.
Judy spent her final year and half of life residing with her daughter in Missouri; traveling to California and Illinois to spend a little quality time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They enjoyed playing cards and games together and they affectionately called her their "Gaga."
Judy is survived by her daughters: Tami Toth and Melanie (Mike) Rose; son, David "Abe" Spencer; grandchildren: Jennifer, Roads, Jessica, Sarah, Amanda, Joshua, Zachary, and Christian; great-grandchildren: Christian, Spencer, and Logan; sister, Carol (the late, William) Glancy; and brothers: John (Lynn) and David (Sandee) Hyde. Judy was a favorite Aunt to many beloved nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Frank Hyde; mother, Gladys (Featherof) Hyde; sister, Margaret Henning; and her beloved son, Scotty Spencer.
Judy lived her wonderful life to the fullest and she was always helping people, even a stranger if they needed a hand. While our hearts mourn this great loss, we take comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering but that she is perfect and whole again.
In honor of her final wishes Judy's remains will be sprinkled during a Celebration of Life at Rincon Beach, aka Scotty's Beach, in Ventura, California soon. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks.
