William Meke Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cremations of the Ozarks - Hollister on Feb. 10, 2026.
William Jewell Mecke Jr, age 94, of Branson, Missouri, passed from this life and into the arms of his Savior on February 2, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He entered this life November 3, 1931, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the son of William Jewell Sr and Alice (Hooks) Mecke. Bill was joined in marriage to the love of his life Pasty Anne Burke on June 12, . His parents and a son, Steven Mecke have preceded him in death.

Bill proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard. A man of many talents, Bill dedicated his life to building and selling homes to many. He was generous with his time, coaching for years in youth sports and being involved in Kiwanis. He stayed active throughout his life, and he worked out regularly at the Branson Rec-Plex, where he never met a stranger. A wonderful husband, dad, grandfather, and friend, Bill's faith and his love for his Lord was evident in his involvement in church and being a wonderful spiritual leader in his home. His grandson-in-law said it best:

"Papa was such a larger-than-life figure. The Christ-like love that he showed to everyone he met was undeniable. He loved his God, his family and everyone he met so well. I am so thankful for the promise at the end of Psalm 23 knowing that Papa is living in the house of the Lord forever."

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Patsy Mecke of the home; his sons: Mike Mecke and wife Julie of Omaha, Arkansas, David Mecke of Ridgedale, Missouri, Jim Mecke and wife Thea of Shalimar, Florida; daughters-in-law: Denise Mecke of Omaha, Arkansas, and Linda Mecke of Citrus Heights, California; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; as well as a brother, David Mecke of Scottsdale, Arizona, and many loved nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday March 14, 2026. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks.
