Judith Stilwell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rivertown Funeral Chapel (Ramsay FH Group) on Oct. 7, 2024.
Judith A. Stilwell
Essexville, Michigan
Judy was born August 30, 1940 to the late Lawrence and Dorothy (Hadd) Fouchea. In 1958 she married Lee Stilwell at St. Anne Church, Linwood. She is survived by her three children, Linda (Scott) Haenlein, Ronald (Annette), and Sandra (Craig) Sterken. In 1974 she and Lee welcomed a fourth child, Lori Anne Stilwell (deceased). Her beloved grandchildren include Nathan Haenlein, Gwen Sterken, Allison (Tony) Betters, Isabella, Alex, and Joseph Marchioli, and great-grandchildren, Dashiell and Clementine Haenlein. She is survived by brothers: Lawrence (Ann Marie) Fouchea, Donald (Eloise) Fouchea, Kenneth (Peggy) Fouchea, James (Dora) Fouchea; and sisters: Marilyn (Larry) Thomas, Dorothy (Steve) Burgdorf, Michele (Randall) Martin. Judy was predeceased in death by her parents, by her daughter Lori, by her husband Lee in April of this year, and sister Janice Gonzalez (Jose).
As the eldest of nine children, Judy lent a hand in the rearing of her siblings, and then by twenty years of age, was raising three children of her own. While devoted to her husband Lee and children, she also nurtured her personal creative expression, through her painting, sewing, crafting, and cooking-which was done with such efficiency and expertise to appear nearly effortless. She was like a mom to many, whether teaching water aerobics, planting gardens and canning food, arranging family get-togethers, or just having fun playing cards or board games with family and friends. Her kindness, zest for life, and compassion will be deeply missed.
Funeral mass will be held on Thursday October 10,2024 at 11am from Prince of Peace- St. Anne Campus with burial in St. Anne Cemetery, Visitation will be on Wednesday at Rivertown Funeral Chapel from 4pm - 7pm. On Thursday from 10 am till time of service at church.
