Judy Christensen, a beacon of wit, whimsy and wisdom, departed this world on January 20, 2026, in Gilbert, Arizona, after a valiant battle with appendiceal cancer. Born on March 25, 1945, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Judy's journey was one marked by laughter, learning, and an unwavering commitment to her community of family, friends and students.

She was the cherished companion to Fara, the loving mother to Brian and his spouse Kirsten, and to Kim and her spouse Chris. Her sister Alex, alongside her spouse Tom, shared in the tapestry of Judy's life, as did her beloved grandchildren Samantha and her husband Greg, David, Emily and her husband Travis, and Ruby, and her great-grandson Luke. Each of these souls was touched by Judy's radiant spirit, her legacy living on in their hearts.

Educated in the hallowed halls of the University of Utah, where she earned a Master's in Education, and later at Arizona State University, where she pursued a Master's in Religious Studies, Judy's inquisitive spirit led her to a deep understanding of how people throughout the ages have sought to understand the mystic.

As a Professor and Department Chair in Philosophy and Religious Studies at Mesa Community College, she was a pioneer of online education, shaping the minds and spirits of those students who she so loved.

Judy's essence was one of connection; she was the kind of person who made everyone feel seen and heard, whether they were sharing a cup of coffee or playing trivial pursuit. Her kind heart, grounded nature, and authentic self were the hallmarks of her character.

Her wit was sharp, and her quiet chuckle was the music that played in the background of many a family gathering. Her presence was a sanctuary, her counsel a compass for those adrift in the tempests of life. Judy's heart was a haven of warmth, her demeanor grounded and authentic, a touchstone for all who sought comfort.

To say Judy was kind, wise, and selfless would be an understatement. She was the kind of person who could find the humor in any situation, a trait that endeared her to all who knew her. Her legacy is one of laughter, love, and the kind of sage advice that could only come from someone who truly understood the human condition.
