Judy Walker Clegg, 79, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 9, 2024 at Cone Health Alamance Regional surrounded by her daughter and favorite son-in-law. She was born on September 10, 1944 in Alamance County to the late Curtis Perkins “C.P.” Walker and Rosa Harrell Walker, and was the wife of 52 years to the late David Pierce Clegg who died in 2016.
Judy retired after 38 years with State Farm Insurance. She worked for agents Jerry Combs and Adam Parker during her career. Judy graduated in 1962 from Walter Williams High School. She remained close to her classmates and she always looked forward to their monthly luncheons and reunions.
She was a long-time faithful member of St. Mark’s Community Church.
Judy’s favorite place on earth was Ocean Isle Beach. She loved listening to beach music, shagging, planting and tending to her flowers, feeding and watching the wildlife in her backyard, and watching her favorite true crime shows. Judy never met a stranger and was a devoted and loyal friend.
Judy is survived by her loving daughter, Suzanne Clegg Eller and husband Brian; grandchildren, Brianne Eller and Slone Eller; a sister, Merle Huffman; nieces and nephews, David Huffman (Elaine), Susan Bolick (Steve), Patricia Law (Tracey), Carol Barbour (Jep), David Harper, and Tim Harper; great nieces and nephews who affectionally called her “A.J.”; and her in-law, Brenda Eller. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Gene Walker; and a niece, Cathy Bullard.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7pm on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory. The memorial service to celebrate the life of Judy will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at St. Mark’s Community Church in the Chapel by Rev. Bob Disher, Rev. David Huffman and Rev.
