In Loving Memory of Judy Ann Dodd Fichtel
January 8, 1941 – December 28, 2025
Judy Ann Dodd Fichtel, 84, of
Saint Cloud, FL, passed away on December 28, 2025. Born in
Paxton, IL, to Thomas and Beulah (White) Dodd, Judy lived a life defined by service, vitality, and an unwavering kindness that touched generations of students and friends. She had a passion for adventure, challenged herself every day, and never accepted defeat. Judy dedicated her life to the guiding principle of "Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can." - John Wesley.
A Legacy of Education and Athletics
Judy dedicated 28 years to education, primarily serving the Nashville-Davidson County public schools as a business education teacher. Beyond the classroom, "Coach Fichtel" was a powerhouse on the sidelines. Despite her small stature, Judy's athletic prowess and competitive spirit led her tennis and cross-country teams to numerous district titles. Judy practiced what she preached, remaining an avid exerciser throughout her life; she was frequently seen riding her bicycle 12 miles a day, a testament to her enduring strength and discipline.
A Life Full of Song
Known for her "sunny disposition," Judy had a way of brightening any room. She possessed a natural, effortless singing voice that her family and friends cherished. Whether she was breaking into song after a margarita at her favorite restaurant or leading the family in harmony while traveling in their RV through the National Parks, music was the heartbeat of her life.
Family and Loved Ones
Judy's memory will be kept alive by her devoted husband of 62 years, Thomas C. Fichtel; her sons, Tad T. (Paula Chen) Fichtel and Christopher C. Fichtel; her grandchildren, Thomas N. Fichtel and Audrey M. Fichtel; and her sister, Jeanette (John) Bridson. Judy was preceded in death by her sister, Tomola May Weber.
