Judy Hughes Hiers, 78, of Pavo, died on Monday, December 22, 2025, at Pruitt Health- Magnolia Manor.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Wesley Chapel Church South with the Reverend Thomas Parrish officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Born on October 5, 1947, in Gu-Win, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Henry Buren Hughes and Irene Gaskin Hughes. For many years, Mrs. Hiers served as the Director of the Moultrie Senior Center, where she devoted her life’s work to caring for and enriching the lives of senior citizens. Through her leadership, kindness, and tireless commitment, she created a welcoming place filled with laughter, fellowship, and support. Judy was deeply admired for her ability to connect with people, advocate for their needs, and treat everyone she served like family.
Judy’s career was more than a job—it was a calling. She poured her heart into her work and made a lasting impact on countless lives throughout the community. Her warm smile, encouraging words, and genuine concern for others will be remembered by all who knew her.
Above all, Judy loved her family and friends and cherished the relationships she built throughout her life. She will be remembered as a woman of strength, compassion, and unwavering dedication to service. She was a devoted member of Wesley Chapel Church South.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Kathy Hughes Purvis, and her brothers-in-law, Reverend Julian Talley and Pete Purvis.
Mrs. Hiers is survived by her loving husband, Huey Hiers of Pavo; son, Kyle Hiers and wife Tina of Moultrie; daughter, Shawna Hiers Curtis and husband David of Sanford, NC; grandchildren, Laken Hiers Brightwell and husband Marty of Mustang, Oklahoma, McKenna Curtis and Joshua Curtis, both of Sanford, NC; and sisters, Roslyn Talley of Alabama and Cindie Merritt and husband David of Moultrie.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Colquitt Regional Hospice, 415 Rowland Dr. Moultrie, Georgia, 31768.
