Sumter, SC.......... Judy Marie Welch McClam, age 82, beloved wife of the late Johnny George McClam, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at MUSC Health Florence Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Clarendon County, SC, Judy was the daughter of the late Samuel Welch and Agnes Watford Welch. She was known to be a very strong willed and determined woman. Judy enjoyed taking trips to the mountains, Red Birds, jewelry of any kind, and she loved listening to Elvis. Judy attended Northside Memorial Baptist church. She also enjoyed Tuesday lunch gatherings with her friends. Her true joy in life came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be remembered as a very loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Surviving to cherish her memory are three sons, Alex Green and wife Annette, Derrick McClam and wife Chassity, and Mark Broach and wife Sharon; one daughter, Wendy Evans; twelve grandchildren, Brandon Burgess, April Robison, Mikey Evans and wife Chenoa, Heather Evans, Bridget Bilton and husband Jason, Brittany McElveen and husband Dean, Jessie Mcleod and husband CJ, Mariah Will and husband James, Clay McClam, Ronnie Broach, Ryan Broach, and Kim Ringo and husband Mark; twenty-four great grandchildren; six Great-great grandchildren and ; one brother, Steve Welch and wife Christine; two sisters, Frankie Welch and John Struhar, and Brenda McLaughlin.
In addition to her husband and parents she is preceded in death by a daughter, Terry Burgess, a grandson, Alex Green Jr, a brother, Ricky Welch, and sons-in-law, Tony Burgess and Mike Evans.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 1:00 pm in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Tony Griffin officiating.
Pallbearers will be Alex Green, Derrick McClam, Clay McClam, Caden McElveen, Cash McElveen, Stanley Matthews, and James Will.
