Judith Kay Miller McKenzie, 78, of Henderson, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on September 13, 2024. She was a deeply cherished wife, mother, Grammie, sister, aunt and friend. She was kind and warm to all people, she was generous and wise, she put others above herself and she always wanted to have adventures and fun. Above all else, she loved the Lord.
Judy was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Larry McKenzie, for 55 years. She was the world’s greatest mom to her three children and their spouses: Josh & Katie McKenzie, Patrick & Katie Beth McCarthy and Michael & Jennifer McKenzie. She was adored by her eight grandchildren: Levi & Garrett McKenzie, Miller & Andre & Keenan & Kenzie Kate McCarthy, and Evie & Oscar McKenzie. Her siblings were very special to her: Donna (Johny) Farris and Eddie (Sue) Miller. She loved her host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim & Florine Miller.
She received degrees from Freed-Hardeman College, Harding College and Memphis State University. She was a PE teacher, a CPA and then an Associate Professor of Accounting at Freed-Hardeman University for over 25 years. She was a member of the Henderson Church of Christ for over 50 years.
There is not enough space here to write all of her accomplishments and pursuits. She treasured the relationships with her many students, she served as a volunteer on boards and committees, she was a joyful partner in Bunco, Bridge, Pentagon Club and Tapestry. She was a diligent Bible class teacher and student, a creative quilter and an avid fan of puzzles and games. She loved her many dear friends, her Bible study group, her precious church family and decades long relationships with many members of the Chester Co. Community.
There truly aren’t words to describe what she meant to her family. To love her and be loved by her was the greatest blessing God ever gave us.
