Judy Prichard Rogers, 78, died peacefully in her home on November 17, 2025 surrounded by close family. Judy was a remarkable individual and deeply loved. Her entire family misses her dearly.
Born in 1947, she was the oldest daughter of Riley Warwick and Kathryn Dollar Prichard of Newbern, Tennessee. She graduated from Newbern High School in 1965 as Valedictorian of her class and was chosen as Best All Around by classmates. She will be remembered fondly in her hometown as Miss Newbern 1965 and for her years of playing high school basketball.
After graduation, she attended the University of Tennessee at Martin where she was active in Chi Omega, and later transferred to UT Knoxville where she received her bachelor's degree in business administration, graduating Magna Cum Laude. It was there she met her college sweetheart, King Rogers III; they were married in 1970. After King completed his law degree at Emory University in Atlanta, the couple made their home in Memphis where Judy made countless friends and was always actively involved with her children, Katherine and King, encouraging, loving, and helping them to grow in their faith in God and as individuals.
In Memphis, Judy became active in various organizations throughout the city including Junior League, LeBonheur Club, Bible Study Fellowship for over a decade, and Women's Bible Study at Second Presbyterian Church where she was a member of the Growing in Grace class. Judy enjoyed her tennis league at the University Club for a number of years as well as her various card groups. One of the longest running was a bridge group which has now existed for over 50 years and is affectionately known as "the bridge group that doesn't play bridge."
Judy developed a love for antiques and became very knowledgeable with a keen eye for quality. She enjoyed spending hours walking through antique stores and became friends with many local and regional dealers, even attending their weddings, birthdays, and family events. Her interest in antiques led her to join the Little Glass Club, a local organization that enjoyed learning and discussing glass, decorative arts, and collectibles. The monthly meetings and particularly the group of ladies involved always brought a smile to her face.
Judy always enjoyed her associations with the University of Tennessee, where she served as a member of the UT Women's Council, and later became a charter member of the Alliance of Women Philanthropists. In 1997, the UT College of Business Administration in Knoxville co-named Judy and King Rogers as the Distinguished Alumni of the Year.
Since her college days, Judy remained a steadfast UT Vols fan. On one particular UT football trip, Judy had King stop at an antique store where she purchased a large hall tree, which required all six traveling companions to safely fit the prized purchase in the already too small van.
Judy shared a life rich with good friends who recognized her sparkling wit and often enjoyed her warm, welcoming, and loving hospitality. She hosted Thanksgiving dinners for her family for 41 years with an immaculately set table, wonderful food, and fellowship. Always the perfect hostess, she made everyone feel welcome and part of the family. Every year was proclaimed the "Best Thanksgiving Ever," only to be outdone by her the next year.
Judy loved her three granddaughters dearly and spent much time in Nashville attending various events and just being with the girls. Her love and loyalty to her family, especially the grandchildren, was truly her sweet spot. Each will have precious memories of their grandmother who loved them and cherished each one of them in a very special way.
Judy was a detail person and took care of all behind the scenes business and planning to keep so many lives running smoothly - her husband, children, granddaughters, and friends. You never had to ask her twice because you knew she would always come through with your request. She was dependable and accountable for everything she undertook and was always there when her friends needed her to give guidance or lend a hand. In her quiet way, she has touched so many lives.
She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, King W. Rogers III; daughter Katherine Rogers of Nashville; son King W. Rogers IV (Camille) of Nashville; grandchildren Ruthie, Grace, and Neely Rogers; sister Janie Prichard Austin (Gary); brother Joe Riley Prichard; nephews and nieces, David Austin (Kelly), Brian Austin, Joe Prichard, Jr., and Jennilee Jones; and great-niece, Emma Prichard.
Judy is preceded in death by her parents, Riley Warwick and Kathryn Dollar Prichard, her grandparents, Edgar Eugene and Julia Haase Dollar, and Jefferson and Mattie White Prichard.
The family of Judy Rogers would like to express their sincere appreciation and thankfulness to Tiffany Smith, Gwen Bowman, Nora Lurry, and Sylvia Beard (Hands for Caring, LLC) for their loving care and support to Judy during her illness. Private burial will be at Memorial Park. Services for Judy will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, November 24, 2025 at Second Presbyterian Church, in the sanctuary. The Reverend Sandy Willson and Reverend Josh Preston will be officiating. Visitation will follow in the Salmon Room.
