Jule Spears

Frances Spears was born in Anderson, South Carolina in 1935 to the union of Gumbo & Luella Mattress, although she was raised by her grandmother, Essie Gray.
Frances, also known as "Toot", was educated in Anderson, South Carolina. She moved to Cincinnati, Ohio and marries her husband, Erskine Spears. They were married for 43 years.
In 1988, July 4th, Frances symbolized her dedication to Jehovah through water baptism. She loved Jehovah with all her heart. Attending spiritual meetings, participating in field ministry, sharing the good news and going to assemblies.
She loved to entertain, Big Time! She put the 'H' in Hospitality. Many of her spiritual brothers and sisters knew how much she enjoyed entertaining and preparing meals that seemed more like Feasts. Sunday meals were never anything short of spectacular. She was quite famous for her big, tabletop pineapple cake. In her younger years, she hosted and prepared a big dinner where everyone wore gowns and tuxedos. This dinner was such a huge hit, that it was featured in a magazine. She loved to have all types of beautiful flowers and plants inside and outside of her home. And she loved to get dressed to the nines, always a sharp dresser in her own right.
To carry on her legacy, she leaves her son Peter (Renee) Mattress, Honorary Son – Gilbert Derriso Jr. and three daughters –, Dayna (Tracey) Larkins, Ursula (Michael) Small, and Cher Spears-Gaines
20 Grandchildren – Tia, Patrick, Brian, Sheena, Brianna, Pete, Jr., Diamond, Tyrra, Tyrrin, Siraj, Mia, Waylan, Nia Loren, Moriah, Saniyah, Aniyah, Makiyah, Toni, Jordan, and Justin. Along with a host of great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Erskine Spears, Jr., Grandson – Walter Macklin Jr., and Foster Son – Tyrone (Michelle) Conway.
No funeral or memorial service is immediately planned. The family will notify loved ones in the future when a service is scheduled.
