Julia Juanita Bond Ford passed from this life in
Del City, Oklahoma on December 22, 2025, at the age of 103. Her last days were spent humming along with her family and friends as they sang beloved church songs to her. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home.
On April 6, 1922 Julia was born to James Samuel and Lola Julia (Mathison) Bond. Living in
Stroud, Oklahoma, she was the sixth of nine children. When she was 18, she and her dad traveled by train to California for work.
After meeting the love of her life, Arther, he was sent by the Army to Italy to fight the Germans during WWII. While Arther was away at war, Julia worked at Tinker Air Force Base installing wiring in the nose of aircraft. She wrote many letters to Arther while he was away. Once the war was over, she then put her tools down and went back home. They were married April 20th, 1946 and made their home in Yale, Oklahoma where gardening and home-cooked meals were a way of life. Julia had the knack to be able to bring flowers back to life. After LuAnn was born, the family moved to Pampa, Texas, where Joyce was born. After moving the family back to Yale, Tim and Connie were born. While living in Yale, they became members and attended Yale Church of Christ. After moving to Cushing, Julia attended the Tri-County Church of Christ.
When the children were mostly grown, Julia began quilting with other ladies in the community. This gathering time became known as the Home Extension Club. Julia began working at the Yale Nursing Home as a cook. In the evenings, at Yale High School, she taught classes for cake decorating, floral arranging, and how to sew tailored clothing and lingerie. Julia worked for the Yale Senior Citizens, being one of three curators, and she taught ceramics. For one week every summer, she worked as a cook at Frog Road Christian Camp on Keystone Lake. When Arther and Julia both retired, they packed up their motor home and enjoyed traveling the country. Julia was a humble person and was rarely sick. She loved God, her family and her country.
Julia is survived by her children LuAnn Stiles and husband Leon of
Cushing, OK; Tim Ford and wife Eileen of Enid, OK; Connie Bryant and husband Chuck of
Del City, OK; honorary daughters Gail Richardson of Midwest City, OK and Linda Hughes of Midwest City, OK; brother Earl Bond and wife Marla of
Stroud, OK; 9 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, with another soon-to-be born, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Julia is preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Lola Bond; husband Arther; infant daughter Joyce; sisters Oleta Housh and Elizabeth Bond: brothers Albert, Clarence, Lawrence, Evert, and Virgil Bond, great grandchildren Grayson Bryant and Madalyn Bryant.
