Julia Auzenne married Marshall Lazare on December 26, 1956. To this union they had six boys and one girl. The family relocated to Galveston, TX, in April 1960. She was employed at St. Mary's hospital for over 26 years, and retired from Galveston Independent School District (G.I.S.D.). Julia was a long time member of St. Patrick's Church. She was member of the Catholic Daughters of Americas, The Altar Society, The Bereavement Committee and the Tuesday Prayer Group.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Marshall Lazare; sons, Michael Lazare, Donald Ray Lazare, grandchildren, Derek Phillips Sr., Felix Fontento, Myesha Dugar; great grandson, Derek Phillips Jr.; daughter in-law, Lisa Black Lazare; brothers, Isreal, Henry, Charles, Howard, Vincent, Benjamin Auzenne; and sister, Sister Mary Benjamin.
Julia Lazare, 87, received her reward of eternal rest on May 19, 2025, at home surrounded by her loving family.
Julia leaves precious memories with her sister Verdna Lazare, daughter Diane Lazare Thompson, sons George, Cecil and Troy (Kimberly) Lazare; grandchildren, Tyerre Boyd (Keisha), Paul Thompson, Deaundre Griggs (Destiny), Marvin Jobe, twins Rickey and Richard Lacey, Derrick Grooms, Rick Phillips, Louis Johnson, Michael Scott, Andrew Winkelmann, George Jr., Troy Jr., James Jr., Cecil Jr., Dytrell, Trayzelle, Travon Lazare; granddaughters, Rekeisha Phillips, Sakemah Thompson, Jonetta Dugar, Rickate Lazare, Donnika Gipson, Ravan; sisters-in-law, Helen Auzenne, Lillie King; brother-in-law, Nelson Robertson; special friends, Marie Payne, Rose Etienne, Louise Johnson, Aline Lattimore, Patricia Walker, Madonna and Missy Salters, Jessie Curtis, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
