Born on March 18, 1931, in Marlin, Texas, to Willie King, Sr. and Georgia (Butler) King, Mr. King served in the United States military beginning in 1952. During the Korean War, he endured captivity as a prisoner of war and was awarded the POW medal and the Bronze Service Star among other honors. His resilience and devotion to freedom remain a lasting testament to his character.

Following his military retirement, Mr. King dedicated himself to his community through trucking and construction ventures, his work with Fields Funeral Home, and his beloved landscaping business. Known for his integrity and hard work, he built a life rooted in service and perseverance.

Mr. King first married Willie Ruth Armstead, with whom he had two children, Otha Lee King, Jr. and Sonya King. He later married Genevieve "Genny" Davis, with whom he shared a lifelong partnership. Together, they helped raise their twin nieces, Donna and Dwannah Guient, and were well known for their love of Harley Davidson motorcycles, winning numerous competitions for best bike and best dressed couple. For decades, the couple gave back to the community by providing meals to Galveston City Public employees and spreading joy during the holidays with their festive Christmas displays.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve King; his parents; siblings Erma Jean King Newsome, James L. King, J.B. King, J.C. King, and George Earl King; his first wife, Willie Ruth King; and his niece, Dwannah Guient Montgomery.

Mr. King is survived by his children, Otha Lee King, Jr. and Sonya King; grandchildren Lerenzie, Aaron, Penelope, Emily, Elliott, Emmitt, and Julian King; brother Willie King, Jr.; nieces Donna Guient Isom (Everett), Janice "Choo" McIntosh (Easton), and Alexandria "Chili" Montgomery; nephew Glenn Montgomery II (Kevia); devoted friends John "Tody" Brown and Columbus Matthews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
