Julia E. Maffei

Julia E. Maffei, 94, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on December 13, 2025. Born in Hartford, CT to the late Martin and Mary (Haley) Dardis, Julia lived in Newark and settled in Old Bridge in September of 1957.
She spent her time caring for her family as a homemaker. A communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle RC Church, Julia was also involved in the ladies auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus. While raising her children, she belonged to the PTA, served as their president and was a Girl Scout / Cub Scout leader.
Julia enjoyed baking, cooking, reading, watching Jeopardy and during elections, she could be found working the polls. Predeceased by her daughter Patricia Zenko, daughter-in-law Lisa Maffei and her siblings; Martin Dardis, Mary Dardis, Jeanne Pfieffer, Patricia Iulo, Kathleen Loihle, Theodore Dardis and Leon Dardis, Julia leaves behind her husband of seventy-five years John and their children; Thomas of Old Bridge, John and his wife Lori of Manahawkin, Eileen Maffei and her husband Robert of Sparta, Maria Cunningham and her husband Anthony of Millstone, Michael and his wife Beth of Lake Worth, FL, Anthony of Cranbury and Julie Lancsak and her husband Rob of Englishtown. She will be missed deeply by thirteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at Old Bridge Funeral Home, 2350 Route 516, Old Bridge, NJ 08857 from 4pm until 8pm. Family and friends may gather to St. Thomas the Apostle RC Church, One St. Thomas Plaza, Old Bridge for a 10:30am Mass of Christian Burial. Mausoleum entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Jamesburg.
