Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hansen Mortuary Chapel - Phoenix on Feb. 10, 2026.
Our precious mother, JULIA EMRICK MYRICK, flew into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, February 7, 2026. Julia was a lively and beautiful 90-years-young woman of faith! Julia loved God, family, friends and her community. She loved to dance, sing, laugh, read, cook, spin the old vinyl and listen to all kinds of music, study history, play bingo and just plain visit. She also loved her sports – Phoenix Suns, Kansas City Chiefs, New England Patriots, etc. She was 98% Irish and loved celebrating her heritage! She even made a trip to Ireland in 2014, and she loved every minute of it!
On Saturday, August 24, 1935, in West Mansfield, MA, a priest was visiting Julia's home when Julia's mother went into labor. The priest drove Julia's mother to the hospital and Julia made her grand entrance at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, MA. What a special delivery that was – talk about a Godly intervention! Julia was a girl scout and very good student. She loved swimming at Sweets Pond in the Summer and ice skating on Egan's Field in the winter. In 1948, Julia and her family moved to
Tucson, AZ due to her father's health. They eventually moved to
Phoenix, AZ, where Julia attended St. Mary's Catholic High School. Julia and her friends loved going to the local television station to watch a local singer, Marty Robbins. Julia used to pay .25 to see a movie and Roy Rogers was her boyfriend! When she seen Dale Evans on the "screen" with him, she thought, "What's she doing up there with him?!"
On Saturday, November 10, 1951, Julia met a very, handsome 21-year-old young man by the name of Robert Emrick. This was the beginning of a true and everlasting love story as Julia had found her Prince Charming and Bob his Cinderella! They married at St. Mark's Catholic Church on August 29, 1953, and went on to build their whole marriage and family on God's principles. Bob and Julia enjoyed their life with their five children: Bobby, Cathy, Julie, Theresa & Dorothy. Julia worked at Micro-Semi for 35 years as a lead technician, during which time she received many awards and recognition. She also was proud to be an Eagle Scout Mother.
On Saturday, January 3, 1987, our precious Daddy, Robert Emrick, flew to heaven. Momma prayed for Godly strength in her darkest hour. She was blessed to meet a new love, Walter Myrick, and they married on April 8, 1995. They had fifteen great years together before Walter was called home by the Lord on November 1, 2010. But Momma didn't give up. She said, "Now Julia, get up and put one foot in front of the other, and just go!" And that's what she did. She moved in with her daughter, Cathy, where we all had so much fun throughout the years. We called their house "The Resort" and Momma loved it. Thank you, Cathy, for taking such great and tender care of our precious Momma over the last 15 years! You were called into the Kingdom for a such a time as this.
Momma had such a remarkable way of making people feel loved and special that all her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren & great-great grandchildren feel they are her favorite! We were so very blessed to have Momma in our lives to teach us, to rock us, to love us, to hug us, to teach us about our sweet savior, Jesus. Thank you, Momma, for a beautiful heritage, and for being true to who God made you to be. We love you and miss you, sweet Momma!
Julia is survived by 5 children, Robert Emrick, Cathy Clark, Julie Culp (Wayne), Theresa McElwee & Dorothy Gallagher; 13 grandchildren: Kristy Emrick, Casey Clark (Becky), Julia McClure (Chris), Kelly Clark (Patty), Michael Ann Emrick, Allan Culp (Lisa), Sharon Clark, Andrew Culp (Sally), Grace Clark, Kenneth McElwee (Meghan), Emilie Murphy (Michael), Aaron Gallagher (Miranda), Matthew Emrick; 25 Great Grandchildren; 8 Great-Great Grandchildren; one brother, Thomas Walsh (Fran); multiple nieces & nephews.
