Julia Idalia Perez, a beautiful servant to the Madisonville community, made her glorious entrance to eternity on October 1, 2025, in Bryan, Texas. She was born to her loving parents, Carlos Gonzalez and Maria Del Pilar Chapa, in Laredo, Texas on April 2, 1954. Throughout 71 years, Julia displayed a powerful love that was so easily observed by those around her. Her genuine and authentic care for people will not be soon forgotten.
Julia’s life was filled to the brim with service to others, and her example was manifested in many ways. She was a committed, long-time member of the Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, which was a vital part of her life. Her faith was extremely important to her and framed out her view of the world and shaped how she treated others. She will certainly be remembered as a powerful prayer warrior who embraced the opportunity to look after people in her time with the Lord.
Everyone had value to Julia and were worthy of the wonderful encouragement she had to offer. She made great efforts to bring happiness to everyone she came across. She considered it her purpose to, “Spread the joy and leave a smile.” This was always followed up with, “God bless you all.” These were the sentiments that describe Julia more than anything else.
Julia had a great personality and was very approachable. She never met a stranger and was easy to talk to. Her own smile was contagious to others. She was a true advocate for those who needed help and a hard worker. One of the greatest blessings people received from Julia were her tamales. It was not uncommon for orders to flood in resulting in piles of tamales in her kitchen that would later arrive in destinations all over.
Julia’s affection for her family was beyond articulation. She simply adored them all, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Julia was clearly an instrument of righteousness used by the God of heaven to reach into the lives of many. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew her.
Julia was preceded in death by her parents, Carlos Gonzalez and Maria Del Pilar Chapa; her parents-in-law, Juan Perez Corona and Maria Isabell Perez Vasquez; and sister, Carmen Del Miranda.
Those left to cherish the precious memory of Julia are the father of her children, Gustavo Perez; six children, Carlos Gonzalez, Cindy Alvarado (Will), Angela Tipaz (Juan), Becky Perez (Sedley), Juan Perez (Davida), and Gustavo Perez (Kari); one brother, Ricardo Ramirez (Petra); three sisters, Susie Gutierrez (Jose), Sara Moreno and Myra Hernandez (Hector); twenty grandchildren, Noah, Marco, Julie (Sean), Alex (Stevie), Cristina Idalia, Juan, David, Bebe, Miguelito, Brylee, Joseph, Jordan, Zackery, Zayden, Olivia, Analia, Kayla, Kaylee, Isabella and Sofia; and three great-grandchildren, Eli, Remi and Cruz; as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, extended family and loving friends.
Julia’s favorite color was red, and it would be a meaningful expression to wear that color in her memory to the funeral service. This service, officiated by Father Guillermo Gabriel-Maisonet, will take place at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 10 A.M., followed by burial in Madisonville Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled for Friday, October 10, 2025, from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. and will be held in the chapel of Madisonville Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 7 P.M.
Everyone is invited to a celebration of life reception at the Juneteenth Facility in Madisonville directly following the burial. The family would love for people to come and share their stories and reflect together on Julia's life of love and service to others.
