Julia Clark Prince, affectionately known as Judy, age 83, passed away in New Jersey on January 31, 2026.
Judy was born on September 29, 1942, in Dallas, Texas. She lived a full life where few rules applied. She spoke her mind without filters and was often misunderstood, but had the most fun, charismatic, interesting, and entertaining personality. She was extremely artistic and a huge lover of music of any genre, and she played the harmonica with passion. Judy was a truly unique personality. She lived a life defined by resilience, strength, and hope.
She was widowed by her first husband, Larry Bain Freeland, her daughter Kelley’s father. She later remarried Allen Winfred Vaughn and had her next two children, Kyle Vaughn and Kristin Vaughn.
Judy is survived by her children: Kristen Pokky, Kelley Freeland Dewkett, Kyle Vaughn, and Kristin Vaughn, her grandchildren Rachel Loizos, Sera Vaughn DeGraaf, Eliza Dahmen and Anna Brynne Carlbom and her great-grandson Henry DeGraff.
She will be remembered for her strength and quirkiness that made her the most interesting unconventional woman. She left her family with enough life stories to write an interesting memoir. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Judy was cremated, and her ashes will be spread out to sea, honoring her wishes.
