Julia Schlert Obituary

PALMER TOWNSHIP Julia E. Schlert, 94, of Palmer Township, formerly of Southside Easton, passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2022, in Holy Family Manor. Born December 20, 1927, in Alpha, NJ, she was a daughter of the late Stephen and Mary (Stasak) Bankosh. Her husband of 72 years, John T. "Jack" Schlert, passed away October 23, 2021. She retired from the former Joseph's Clothier where she was employed for 40 years. Julia enjoyed going to the shore, shopping, bird watching and loved flowers. She was a member of St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church. She had been a member of the former St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Surviving are three daughters, Mary E. Nicoletta and her husband Jerry, of Lexington, SC, Eileen Fornaciari and her husband Tony, of Broadway, NJ, and Jackie Smith and her husband Scott, of Bethlehem Township; eight grandchildren, Matthew Nicoletta and his wife Juana, Ryan Celia and his wife Karen, Mandy Nicoletta, Aaron Celia, Brianna Zarenkiewicz and her husband Dan, Jack Celia, Jr., Scott Smith, Jr. and his wife Nicole, and Steven Smith and his wife Amy; ten great-grandchildren, Natalie, Andrew, Caden, Lindsey, Jaxson, Jocelyn, Averie, Zachary, Violet and Carter; nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Kathy Ann Schlert, six brothers, Frank and Joseph Bankosh, John, Joe, Steve, and Albert Meglic, and two sisters, Mary Bankosh and Theresa Degnan-Templeton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am Monday in St. Jane's Catholic Church, 4049 Hartley Ave., Palmer Township. Call Monday 9:30-10:30am in the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's New Cemetery. The Strunk Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson Borough, is in charge of arrangements. Offer online condolences at www.strunkfh.com. Mrs. Schlert was a lovely lady and always with a smile. I remember her fondly from Sy. Joseph Church and South Side.
