Julia Stroud Obituary

Julia "Judy" Olive Stroud (née Baker), age 84, passed away on September 14, 2025, in Granbury, Texas, following complications from leukemia.

Born on March 14, 1941, in Fort Worth, Texas, Judy was the youngest of five children of Sloan and Claudia Baker. She grew up in Breckenridge, Texas, and graduated as valedictorian of Breckenridge High School in 1959. She went on to earn her bachelor's degree from Texas Christian University in 1962 as salutatorian and later completed her master's degree at Texas Woman's University in 1973.

Judy dedicated her professional life to the Texas A&M Extension Service, where she retired as system director. Her strong Christian faith guided her throughout her life, and she was a devoted lifelong member of the Methodist church. She was especially active at Acton United Methodist Church, contributing to the church library and participating in her Sunday School class until her health declined.

Judy found joy in reading, cooking, sewing, crafting, playing the piano, and exploring genealogy. She had a deep love for animals and took great delight in decorating for Christmas. Above all, she cherished time spent with friends and family.

She is survived by her son Blake Edwards and granddaughter Zoe Edwards of Garland, TX; stepsons Randy Stroud of Georgetown, TX and David Stroud of Gainesville, TX; granddaughter Christine Moskalik of Flower Mound; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins across the country. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob Stroud; son David Edwards; granddaughter Catherine Edwards; and brothers Sloan, Jack, James, and Ned Baker.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury, TX on October 4 at 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Acton Methodist Church or the ASPCA. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her.
