Julia was born on October 29th, 1968 in Ankara Turkey to Larry and Joan (Lubin) Smucker. Julia grew up in Ankara Turkey, Lima Peru and Silver Spring MD. Julia attended both Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) and George Washington University (GW) and worked in both the hospitality and healthcare industry.
She is survived by her husband Courtney Thompson, son Lucas, brother Jonathan Steel, brother Daniel Smucker (Ronica Sanders), niece Sophia, stepmother Fauzia Rashid Smucker, stepsister Rishm Najm (Taimur Amjad), niece Alisha, nephew Esaam
