Julia Martha VanderLaan

Julia M. VanderLaan, age 86, of Lowell, passed away Saturday, September 20, 2025. Julia joined the Peace Corps in 1964 and worked in Nigeria and Turkey. After that, she was a labor and delivery nurse at Butterworth Hospital and at Grand Rapids Osteopathic Hospital. Julia also worked at the Veteran's Hospital in California for a time. She traveled extensively both internationally and throughout the USA. Julia was a member of Boston Square Church in Grand Rapids since 1966. Julia was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Martha VanderLaan; brothers, James VanderLaan and Harold VanderLaan (James was Julia's twin); and sister-in-law, Carolyn VanderLaan. Julia is survived by her: Sister Ruth (Marv) VanderLaan-Vos Sister-in-law Judy VanderLaan Several nieces and nephews A memorial service for Julia is being planned for a later date. Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery in Holland. Memorial contributions in Julia's memory may be given to Boston Square Church and Interim Hospice. The VanderLaan family would like to thank the staff at Green Acres in Lowell and Trisha at Interim Hospice for the loving care Julia received.
