LuAnn Vanderlaan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Pine View Mortuary - Saint George on Oct. 13, 2025.
Our mother, LuAnn Wilde Vanderlaan, passed into the eternities on October 6th, 2025, after a valiant third battle with cancer.

LuAnn was firm in her faith and a devoted wife to her husband, Henry Vanderlaan, who died in 2022. They were twin flames and only whole when in each other's orbit.

LuAnn was born in Coleville, Utah, on January 29th, 1944. She grew up in humble circumstances in Oakley, Utah, and at 19 decided to seek her future in the "big city" of SLC. For a country mouse, this was a brave undertaking. She worked, stretched her wings, and within a few years met Henry. She declared it an inauspicious beginning. She fell at a dance, and he was one of the crowd who came over to "view the train wreck" before walking off with his date. Something made an impression, though, because she cut her tiny, platinum blonde self through the crowd and eventually laid claim. They were married in 1966 in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' SLC temple and went on to move to Seattle for 30 years, have four children, and retire happily in St. George, Utah, at just 53 and 54.

LuAnn enjoyed the simple pleasure of life; she pruned and grew delicious raspberries and blueberries, read prolifically, and enjoyed church callings and activities. She took great joy in holidays and put a lot of effort into making them whimsical and special for her children.

LuAnn goes to join her husband, Henry Vanderlaan; her father, T. Elmer Wilde; her mother, Leola Wilde; and her beloved siblings, Neta McNeil, Nile Wilde, and LaVar Wilde. LuAnn leaves behind her children, Stacy Bradford (Kenneth), Devin Vanderlaan (Silva), Jaime Vanderlaan, and Kelly Vanderlaan; grandchildren, Gunner Vanderlaan, Kenneth H. Bradford (Hannah), Gracie Vanderlaan, Reagan Bradford, and Blair Bradford; and great-grandson, Carmine Vanderlaan.

LuAnn will be honored at a graveside service held at Tonaquint Cemetery located at 1777 S Dixie Dr, St. George, UT 84770 on Friday, October 24th, 2025, at 1:00 p.m.
