Julian Taunton Obituary
Julian was born in Atlanta, Ga., on June 23, 1953, to the late Julian Horace Taunton Sr. and late Betty Gilbert Thompson. Julian was a dedicated and hardworking man who spent many years as a superintendent and project manager with Miller Electrical Contractors. He took great pride in his work and the relationships he built along the way.
Julian had a deep and abiding faith, and he was passionate about sharing the Word of God, leading many to Christ through his testimony and love for others. He loved the outdoors and found great joy in nature, as well as in spending time with his family. Julian also enjoyed life's adventures, always embracing each moment with a spirit of enthusiasm and gratitude. He never encountered a project he couldn't handle and demonstrated a wide range of talents throughout his life.
Julian is survived by his wife, Vickie Taunton; daughter, Tonya Taunton; step-daughters, Melanie Chapman and Ashley Chapman; siblings, Jean Goepp and Becky Boggs; grandchildren, Brandon Bergen, Ansley Bergen, Amber Bergen, Jasmine Bonner, and Paden Flanagan; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on April 11, 2026, at 2 p.m. in the Beck Funeral Home Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Julian's memory to Rabun County Paws4Life, P.O. Box 216, Clayton, GA 30525.

I can attest to all that has been written or said aloud about Horace. You will only read or hear the best of good words, feel the good vibes if you had the pleasure of meeting him yourself. He could turn any bad day into a steady glow of hope. A very good man, Beloved by God. I feel blessed to have worked near him. RIP Horace. Loved ones, be comforted, be proud in the name of Christ.

Horace could disarm even the most ornery of construction worker with just his grin. If that didn´t work, he´d grab ahold of you and plant a big ole kiss on ya.
He taught 18 year old me that real men solve their problems peacefully. And that I should probably take out my earrings if I wanted to be taken seriously in the trades.
He was simultaneously the most professional and unserious guy I ever had the pleasure of working with.
He carried me up three flights of stairs to my apartment when I had just got out of surgery after a motorcycle accident.
He would bring over some of the best soups and banana bread I´ve ever had. He was a man of many hidden talents, that is for sure. He even taught me how to be my own chiropractor. All you need is a sturdy door frame, a towel and a little finesse.
Horace was the quintessential Southern Man. I looked up to him in many ways. I know he prayed for me too. It undoubtedly worked.

I started working with you when I was 17. You taught me how to do a lot of things. You were a nut to work for, always wanting to hug and kiss on everybody. You treated me more like a son than an employee. I had some great times and have some great memories. I´ll love and miss you more than you´ll ever know.
