Juliana Renae Hodges

Juliana Renae (Spann) Hodges, affectionately known as "Julie," was born on September 8, 1965, in Lakenheath, Suffolk, England. She departed this life on March 26, 2025, at Luminis Health Anne Arundel Medical Center. She was born to Marion J. Spann and Loris M. Alexander. Juliana was raised in Colorado Springs, Colorado, with her parents and two sisters.
In 1983, she graduated from Thomas B. Doherty High School in Colorado Springs, Colorado. While in high school, she was a member of the Marching Band, played basketball, and ran track. She attended Pikes Peak Community College in Colorado Springs, Colorado (1983–1986), and the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado (1986–1988), where she majored in Journalism, Advertising, and Libel Law, with a minor in Criminal Justice. While in college, she was also part of the ROTC program.
Throughout the years, she worked at various places, including Sheraton Inn (1984–1988), Current Warehouse (Assembly Line Personnel, 1983–1991), Equitable Insurance Company (1990–1991), Rite Aid (1992), Blockbuster Video (1994–2005), and held several positions at Genesis HealthCare (1998–2023), with her most recent role being a caregiver for her two grandchildren, Braylen and Kehlani.
Juliana later gave birth to two children, Nathaniel R. Spann-Hodges (1991) and Jeanette R. Spann-Hodges (1993), to her former husband, Dale R. Hodges. She then gave birth to the late Anthony J. Spann-Pack (2002–2015) to Theodore A. Pack. She was a nurturing and caring mother, always putting the needs of her children above her own.
Her love and devotion to her family and friends were unmatched, and her legacy will live on through them. In addition to being a loving mother, Juliana was a cherished friend to many. Her warmth, kindness, selflessness, and sense of humor brightened every room she entered. She touched the lives of all who knew her, offering a listening ear, a helping hand, and words of wisdom.
Juliana had a deep passion for camping, bowling, skating, singing, writing, hiking, doing puzzles, and home remodeling, especially anything that was family-oriented. As a youth, she enjoyed biking and playing sports. She found joy in doing crafts in her free time and watching movies, even though she would often fall asleep halfway through. Juliana also enjoyed fishing, dancing, and spending quality time with her fiancé, James H. Medley. Her strength, resilience, and compassion will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
She is preceded in death by her son, Anthony J. Spann-Pack; her grandparents: Luther C. Alexander, Annie M. Burgess, Lucille T. Guess, and James S. Spann Sr.; and her well-devoted former mother-in-law, Catherine M. Hodges, father-in-law, Elijah L. Hodges, and brother-in-law, Larry Hodges.
She leaves to cherish fond memories her two children, Nathaniel R. Spann-Hodges (Brandi M. Spann-Hodges) and Jeanette R. Spann-Hodges (Andre Leary); two sisters: LaWanna M. Spann-Larson (Donald L. Larson Jr.) and Jaculine T. R. Spann (Eric Winkleman); sisters-in-law, Linda D. Hodges and Charlene M. Holland; five nieces, Hannah Spann, Elizabeth Spann, Laticia Wright, Clarissa Wright, and Stephanie Campbell (Johnny); two grandchildren, Braylen A. Leary and Kehlani A. Spann-Hodges; the Pack family; the Medley family; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
