Dr. Julianne Freiwald-Gaule - "Julie Cares"

January 12, 1959 – September 8, 2025

Dr. Julianne Freiwald-Gaule devoted her life to helping others find their voice. A speech-language pathologist since 1982, she graduated cum laude from the University of Miami with a degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences and a minor in Psychology, later earning a Florida Teaching Certificate (K-12).

After five years with the Broward County Schools, she earned her Master's and Doctorate in Speech-Language Pathology from Nova Southeastern University, working with children and adults facing developmental and neurological challenges. Her hallmark compassion-known to many as "Julie Cares"-shaped every aspect of her career.

Her passion for neuroscience led her to Harvard Medical School's Neurology of Behavior program, where she was the only speech-language pathologist among neurologists and psychiatrists. She later contributed to innovative rehabilitation at Scottish Rite Children's Hospital in Atlanta and lectured widely throughout Florida for Marion Publications.

Dr. Freiwald presented internationally at the Global Summit for Neuroscience in Paris (2020) and at the Symposium on Neuroscience and Psychiatry in Vienna, Austria (2021).

Julianne was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Flick, and is survived by her mother, Jackie Flick; her brother, Jeffry Flick (Sandy); her husband, David Gaule, all of Vero Beach; and her nephew, Johnathan (Emily) of Miami.

Her legacy endures in every life she touched-with heart, intellect, and the enduring grace of "Julie Cares."
