With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to our beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, Julie Ahlgren, 68, who was received into the arms of the Lord on November 1, 2023. Born on August 20, 1955, in Vancouver, BC, Canada, Julie lived a life full of love, compassion, and dedication, leaving an indelible imprint on the hearts of those she touched.
Julie was a beacon of unwavering love and reliability, whose kindness knew no bounds. She devoted her life to the service of others as a Certified Nurses Aid, a role she held for many years before retiring in 2016. Julie's inspiring work ethic was only surpassed by her genuine care for her patients, making her a cherished figure in the hospital community.
In her private life, Julie found immense joy in the simple pleasures. She loved the rustle of a good book, the warmth of a freshly baked cake shared with her granddaughter, and the beauty of the flowers she tended to with such care during the summer months. Yet, what mattered most to Julie was her family. Whether it was taking scenic drives through the canyons of Utah with her grandson or spending valuable time with her children and grandchildren, Julie's heart was always happiest in their company.
Julie is survived by her sister Donna Petterson, daughter, Christine Benson; her grandchildren, Ciara Garcia, Miles Garcia, Micheal Benson, Sawyer Ahlgren, and Arrayh Ahlgren; a great grandson. and her nieces and nephews, Colleen McKenzie, Craig Petterson, and Steven Young. She is preceded in death by her parents, Sylvester and Marie Stepan; her sister, Terry Melton; and her son, Edward Ahlgren.
As we remember Julie, we are reminded of the verse from the book of Proverbs 31:25-26, "She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue." Julie lived these words every day, and through her, we learned the true meaning of compassion, love, and resilience.
We invite you to share your memories, stories, or photos of Julie on her memorial page, celebrating the love and joy she brought into our lives. Let us remember her as she was a beacon of love, a pillar of strength, and an inspiration in every sense of the word.
