Julie Marie Remitz entered Eternal Life January 27, 2025. She was born December 8, 1955 to Bernadine and Roy Remitz in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. Julie is survived by her siblings: Jim, who is also her godfather (Mary Jane), Jeanne Walmsley, Marianne (Gary) Kazmier, Joe (Beth) Remitz and Ann Posner. She is also survived by her aunt Grace Kolakowski, 13 nieces and nephews, many great nieces and nephews, numerous cousins, many dear friends, and her beloved cats, Mufassa and Garfield. Julie was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers-in-law Woody Walmsley and Bob Posner, and many other pet cats.
Julie held many jobs over the years to include cleaning, housekeeping, dishwashing, etc. If she felt people disrespected her, or the work aggravated her carpal tunnel too much, she would quit and find another job, or jobs. Julie may have held an unofficial record for the most 1099 forms ever. To say that Julie had a good work ethic is an understatement. She worked for the past few years on a school lunchroom team with whom she loved working and sharing friendship.
Aunt Marge taught Julie to drive when she was still quite young. That was a wonderful gift as it gave Julie independence which she treasured and protected. That independence gave family members much anxiety. However, Julie soon discovered how to bypass family concerns and questions by learning survivor skills from kind friends, co-workers, service providers bank employees, government agencies, etc. She became amazingly adept at figuring out how to happily live her life to the fullest on her own terms.
Julie was outgoing, friendly, open-handed and generous even before bank employees taught her how to balance and manage her accounts. Thanks to their teaching, she was very proud the last several years of having a balanced checkbook and even a small savings account.
She contributed to her church, to several charities, to her political party, and was always ready to volunteer. In early fall she spent several Saturdays canvassing for Kamala Harris despite her painful hip. She loved politics and could become very passionate about it.
Julie attended the Wisconsin State Fair annually and if she couldn't find a friend to go she went alone. She always requested Hungarian goulash and German chocolate cake for her birthday. She was an ardent Green Bay Packer fan and assumed everyone else was as well. She loved to make dollar bets on the game with her brother Joe and sometimes got Jim involved to make it more exciting. She loved to tease and seldom missed calling her siblings trying to catch them with an April Fool joke. After her parents died, Julie was the glue connecting her family. She would call all often and pass news along.
She loved much and was much loved. She will be missed.
The family would like to thank the heart failure team of doctors, nurses, and aides at Froedtert Hospital for their excellent and compassionate care and for making every effort to get Julie home to her dear cats. Sincere gratitude also goes to the New Berlin First Responders for their competence and compassion.
