Sara "Loretta" Montalbano, born February 28, 1933, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 16, following a short illness. In her 92 years, she touched countless lives with her kindness, love, and signature sense of humor. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A member of St. Dominic's Church in
Brookfield, WI, she was a devout Catholic who did not fear death, knowing she was simply going home to Jesus. A true Southern belle, she was born and raised in Louisiana, where she still has many beloved relatives. A lover of good books, hot coffee, and anything featuring Tom Selleck, she never missed a shared laugh or a piece of chocolate. Her sharp wit and clear mind remained with her until the end, no doubt strengthened by her love of daily crossword and word-search puzzles. Her love of cooking brought joy to all who tasted her Southern specialties or her famous Sunday sauce. Above all, her greatest joy was time spent with family-whether in Wisconsin, California, or back home in Louisiana.
Sara was preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 60 years, Anthony Montalbano, as well as her parents, Joseph Morrow and Anna Morrow (Ceravola). She is survived by her two children, Dawn Montalbano and Dominic Montalbano (Gheida), and by her seven grandchildren: Anthony Montalbano (Amanda), Sara Mattson (Adam), Shahar Nasser (Jack), Adam Kubashack (Adriana), Nicholas Montalbano (Catalina), Joseph Montalbano (Lainey), and Kelly Riley. She is further survived by many other family members and friends, including two sisters- and brothers-in-law, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. While she will be missed beyond words, her memory will live on through all those she touched.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 28, beginning at 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM and a funeral Service to followed 12:00 PM at CHURCH AND CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, Brookfield, 1875 N. Calhoun Road,
Brookfield, WI 53005.
A very special thank-you goes to the caregivers at Badger Hospice, who cared for Sara with gentleness and kindness. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sara's honor may be made to Badger Hospice.
