Julie B. Rupert age 88 of Sturgis, Michigan passed away early Sunday morning, April 2, 2023 at the Ascension Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
She was born February 6, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan daughter of the late Eber and Lilah (Spurgeon) Coleman.
Julie resided in Sturgis since 1967 coming from Detroit.
On October 1, 1951 she married Jack D. Rupert in Detroit. He preceded her in death March 22, 2014.
Julie retired from Sturgis Bank and Trust following several years of dedicated employment. She had also worked at the Kroger grocery store in Sturgis for several years.
She enjoyed puzzles, crocheting, playing Bingo going out for dinner with friends and family and camping. Julie found her greatest joy when she was surrounded by her family.
She is survived by her children: Jack (Carla) Rupert, Cindi Rupert Goodwin and David (Tracy) Rupert all of Sturgis; six grandchildren: Mike (Katie) Rupert, Mark Rupert, Cole Rupert, Nick Ankney, Natalie (Scott) Boland and Alex (Brian) Riffle; eight great grandchildren; sister: Carolyn (Bill) Neal of Rockport, Texas; best friends: Bob and Julie Stahl of Sturgis and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sons: Richard "Rick" Rupert and John Ronald Rupert.
In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements.
The family suggests those wishing to make a memorial donation in Mrs. Rupert's memory consider Hope for the Animals of St. Joseph County, 25420 Mintdale Rd., Sturgis, MI 49091.
